What Classic Pin-Up Are You?

oh lordy. Who knew? I must have answered some questions wrong somewhere but then I guess ALL the answers were pin-ups so I was never going to get someone remotely like me!

I've come to the conclusion that my mother is possibly even more deranged and cuckoo than me. This was following a bizarre yet extremely funny [worth at least 27 minutes on a rowing machine in terms of hard laughter] involving my disappearing ["banished"] cuddly toys.

She decided she was too restless to sit around the house and checked some bit of paper she had to see what was on at the Maclaurin Gallery at Rozelle. Being it was the Ayr Sketch Club exhibition she wanted to go and me, being the culture vulture I am, went along.

I dunno.. sometimes I think those "amateur" artists do a better job than some of the famous artists you see in galleries and I have come to the conclusion that while I like SOME modern art I'm really quite traditional about it. I like traditional kinds of paintings etc with a modern context or nice bright colours. Abstract just doesn't do it for me. Stripes or big blocks of colour that don't appear to represent anything just leave me with a "I could have done that. What the hell IS it?" kind of feeling.

I like landscapes and there were plenty of those. especially the ones with boats in them! Saw a gorgeous one that looked like it was someone snorkelling in the Carribean or somewhere equally exotic and sea was this lovely green colour. I could just have hung that on my wall and gazed at it all day, imagining myself to be floating in the water. Unfortunately, at nearly £700, it was SLIGHTLY out of my price range!

Nice exhibition though.

As for trips. I suddenly decided to go to Stirling for a night or two. The only night with beds available this week is Thursday so I'll leave early Thursday morning and come back late Friday. I haven't been to Stirling in eons so should be nice. And its booked so at least I know I'm going somewhere. The week after that I'm thinking of spending a few days in the Lake District [taking the car] but we'll see on that one. I don't want to jinx it when its yet to be booked!

Far cry from Rome or Barcelona, and then Stockholm. But I can some of my cash for going to NYC which I'm still all determined about. I can't book it until I ask for my holidays at work but I intend to book it when I get back to work so thats something to look forward to.

oh I need accomodation in NY so if anyone knows of anywhere relatively cheap [but nice] and easy to get to from the airport give me a shout. Any recommendations welcome! I know there is a hostel which would normally do me fine but I think it might be a bit out the road and not sure about the area..

I smell dinner.........
